  8. List all the factors (as many as you can think of) which influence determining and designating “Criticality of Minerals” in general (i.e. all the factors that an agency like Department of Energy would use to assess criticality of a given mineral)
  9. Organize or Group the list of factors above into distinct categories. [Hint: consider at least 5 major categories, e.g. resource related, technology related; Note: there are >5 categories and >20 factors]
  10. The NRC Natl Academies 2007 report uses 2-D Matrix of Supply Risk and Impact of Supply Restriction to evaluate Criticality of Minerals. Supply Risk and Impact of Supply Restriction are lumped parameters. This was discussed in the lecture. Suggest a better approach or index or metric to assess criticality. You could also highlight what is missing in this 2-D evaluation. We are not looking for a final perfect answer. Nor expecting a detailed discourse. Approach and logic would be good.
