Gen 101 – Statistics Assignment

Background Information
Statisticians work with data from all sources and one of their challenges is working out what data is important. In this assignment you will complete calculations based on two sets of data to understand the data better and make predictions. Be sure to include all your calculations in your submission and to round everything to 4 decimal places unless you are reporting money.

Assignment Requirements:
Using the two datasets provided you need to complete the tasks below.
Task Weighting
Section 1.0 – Using Dataset Number 1 complete the following:
1.1 Identify the Sampling method used to collecting the data. Identify if there were any possible sampling errors and if there is a more appropriate method that could have been used. (Max 150 words)
5%
1.2 For each column in the dataset determine the data type (ignore the columns with First Name and Last Name)
5%
1.3 Create a Box-plot diagram for the Physics Grades 10%
1.4 Using a frequency table with Class Interval sizes of 10, calculate the Standard Deviation and variance for the Chemistry Grades
15%
1.5 Use two different methods calculate the Correlation Co-Efficient for the Height and Weight of the students, Interpret your answer in both cases and discuss the difference between the two methods used (Max 150 words)
20%
1.6 Determine the Least-Squares regression line for the Height and Weight of the students. Determine the Goodness of fit for the data and interpret your answer. Using the Least-Squares regression line predict the weight of a 167cm student
10%
Section 2.0 – Using Dataset Number 2 complete the following:
