CA2: Written Coursework Assignment: A written report on individual analysis and clear writing, length of about 4000 words (equivalent to about 8 pages of text. Contributes 60% to the final grade).
The CA2 report is an individually written scientific report whose aim is to communicate some more recent developments in science linked to data sciences Oceans and general climate themes. Your assignment task:
Explain a key issue (including using analysis methods from the course) covering the data science topics of climatic extremes, ocean plankton or another health status aspect of the earth system. Explain with some analysis what the current state of the system is, discuss the remaining uncertainties, their reasons, and propose a data sciences approach to address them.
Some ADSS guidance: This is a very broad topic – so choosing how to focus is important. A lot of data and data science analysis/products are deployed to assess these questions and themes. Please include in this an introduction framing that discusses the latest and contemporary literature. This is a four-week task – so keep the analysis realistic and focus on writing a clear and concise report. Please note the CA2 report needs to be you own written and analysed work. Take this opportunity to introduce ideas you may have and to talk about these clearly.
